I had been looking for it, but I almost gave up.
Because, there was nothing to find any good bagel in here.

A bagel shop called "Bon Apetti" sells bagel at flea markets and internet shop.
When you chew on the bagel, it's ticky (mochi mochi) and soft texture, sweet tast and wild scent of wheat flour.
There are variety of flavor like choco chip, green tea, black beans, maple and so and so.
Everyone likes "bagels of the season".
These are special seasonal frevor of bagels. And very popular.
Please note that always go out of stock so soon.
When you visit "Shiga ga iimon ichi" the most biggest flea market in Shiga, why don't you drop by a "Bon Apetti"'s booth.

Old style public bath

Is the Sento(Public bath) culture exclusive to Japan?
Have been thought so?
Roma also had that.
"Telmae Romae", a Japanes MANGA cartoon, is selling very well now like Michael Jackson music.
This is a story of ancient time trip. Lucius the Roman, he go back and forth to a bath of the flat face tribe(Japan) and Roma's.
Anyway,
Some wants to take a Japanese public bath, but it's kind of fear that every single flat faces turn around and watch you or sometime gaze at you.
Don't you think it's scary, though?
I do, if I were you.
However, I am a kind of flat face tribe, grew up in down town Osaka as the middle of sento culture, of course went to sento everyday and have no hasitate to drop in.
Sento nowadays become more multifaceted. It's rather call an amusement park than public bath. Has many kind of bath tubs, sauna, hot stone spa, massages, nap room, restarurant, and so and so. It's very rare to find a good old Japanese sento. But, wanna visit retro style sento even if you stay in Modern Japan.

There is an old style sento in Ishiyama called "Youkiyu".
The place of Sento maniacs and Old Ishiyama neighbors come and go.
The roof of this sento is very unique round figure. It is called "KARAHAFU".
This sento is very compact, may discover that's suitable for flat face tribes!
Let's soak in the tub to relax yourself, soothe your mind and enjoy Japanese sento culture!

Vegetarian in Shiga ~TOFU~

I think it's very difficult to find some vegetarian restaurants in Japanese surburb area.
Because of Japanese "bloth culture"( "Bloth" is in our say "Dashi" in Japan.)
Most popular bloth is based on Bonito("Katsuo") and Seaweed("Konbu").
You can find other bloth sometimes like from animal meet dirivertive bloth.

Is there any VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT in Japan? Yes, there are some.
Is it rarely met? Yes, it's little bit rare.
Why?
Once you dive in a chain of thought. You can't find an exit.
But, now that you change a view.
You can find some buddhist background vege-friendly foods like Tofu(It's worldwide now),Yuba,Ganmodoki,Hirousu,Kon-nyaku and "Wagashi" Sweets also.

You can be find some TOFU shops, once you travel old town in Japan.
Don't hesitate to visit them.

Here is some NIHONGO KAIWA(Japanese conversation) in TOFU shop.
"Tofu o hitotsu kudasai." or " TOFU o icchou kudasai."
If you want some tipical tofu, put the word before tofu like,
"Kinugoshi tofu o hitotsu/icchou kudasai."
It's absolutly perfect!

Hitotsu : One (separative numeral)
Icchou : One (separative numeral only for tofu)
Kudasai : please give me

Kinugoshi tofu : Silken tofu
Momen dofu : Firm tofu (It's little harder than silken tofu)
Yaki dofu : Lightly broiled tofu (Yaki mean grilled)
Oboro dofu : Scoopable or scooped fresh and fluffy tofu
Atsu-age : Deep fried tofu

There are some tofu shops in our area.
"To-fuu"
In Sakae machi, tofu shop and tofu restaurant (non-vegetarian)
